New Workshop! Fleece Evaluation & Preparation for Fiber Artists

New Workshop! Fleece Evaluation & Preparation for Fiber Artists

Come learn with us! We're thrilled to be a part of Cloud Mount Farm Community-led Workshop series this summer. They’ve brought together an amazing group of folks to teach all sorts of things. Our class will be Sunday June 11th 10am-2pm here at the mill.

The first half of this hands-on class will focus on what to look for in various sheep breeds, as well as proper skirting (sorting) of a fleece. The second half of the class will be washing a fleece from start to finish for home preparation. We’ll share our extensive knowledge of proper techniques and what to look for in a clean fleece. Suitable for beginners interested in the fiber arts or for fiber producers interested in learning to process their own fleeces. Chairs are provided but there will be a lot of standing and moving around.

Each attendee will also get some fleece and soap to take home and practice scouring! You’re welcome to bring in a fleece you already own to use as a demonstration for evaluation, too. Register through Cloud Mountain’s website, and if you have any questions (or ideas for future workshops!) let us know!
